A Family Trip to Shem Creek and Isle of Palms

This post in Swedish can be found here.

With the family reunited and after a recommendation from newly found friends (who are also moving here as expats), we spent our second weekend in Mount Pleasant. Saturday was dedicated to Shem Creek, focused on spotting dolphins (unfortunately with no luck this time) and catching glimpses of scenes from our favorite series Outer Banks. Sunday was all about the beach, specifically Isle of Palms.

Shem Creek is known for its stunning views, waterfront restaurants, and the chance to see dolphins that often swim up the channel. In other words, it’s the perfect destination for a day trip.

Shem Creek turned out to be a fantastic spot for dockside parties and alternative ways to explore the area, such as cruising tikis – floating bar boats that glide through the inlet.

We had lunch at Water’s Edge with a fantastic view of the inlet. With the food being delicious, it was hard not to enjoy every minute at this place.

Wait a minute, isn’t that a heron?

Even though we didn’t spot any dolphins in Shem Creek this time, we got very close to a heron who proudly posed for us.

As mentioned, Sunday was spent at Isle of Palms, enjoying its long stretch of beach.

We’ll end today’s post with a shout-out to our master photographer Olle, who continuously captures the beauty of our adventures.
