Welcome to our Adventures!

We are the Liedholm family, a Swedish family who decided in March 2024 to leave our everyday life in Sweden and indefinitely relocate to South Carolina, USA. Our family consists of Jasmine, Gustaf, and our two wonderful children, Olle and Ralf. The move to the USA is an exciting journey full of new experiences, challenges, and adventures, and we are thrilled to share it with you.

Our Journey

The decision to move to the USA came after Gustaf received a job offer from his Swedish employer, giving him the opportunity to use his experience from Sweden within the organization in the USA. We saw it as a chance to experience a new culture, give our children an international upbringing, and create unforgettable memories together. Despite knowing that we would miss Sweden and everything familiar, we were enthusiastic about the new adventure ahead.

Since arriving here, we have started to deeply explore our new surroundings. From celebrating Midsummer in Cypress Gardens to visiting local attractions such as Bee City Zoo and Charleston Fire Museum, each day has brought something new and exciting. South Carolina has proven to be a place rich in history, natural beauty, and a warm community that has welcomed us with open arms.

The Purpose of Our Blog

We started this blog to stay connected with our family and friends in Sweden and to share our daily adventures and experiences. It has also become a place to document our journey and serve as a resource for other Swedes and expats considering moving abroad, especially to the USA. We aim to offer recommendations, tips, and inspiration based on our own experiences, from cultural differences to practical advice on how to best adapt to life in a new country.

Our Life in South Carolina

Daily life here in South Carolina is filled with new challenges and opportunities. From navigating school and extracurricular activities for the children to discovering local grocery stores and understanding American units of measurement – we learn something new every day. We have also explored various cities, beaches, and parks, and participated in local events such as the Midsummer celebration in Cypress Gardens and the Flower Town Festival in Summerville.

We hope that our blog can be helpful to others who are in similar situations. Moving abroad, especially with children, can feel overwhelming, but it is also a fantastic opportunity for personal and family growth. By sharing our experiences and lessons learned, we want to inspire others to take the leap and explore the world.
